Product advantages:

  • The thermal insulation performance is 3~4 times that of traditional materials, which can greatly reduce the energy consumption of equipment and reduce the required thickness of insulation layer.
  • Small specific heat, low heat storage, heat shock resistance.
  • Temperature resistance up to 1100 ℃
  • It can effectively block infrared radiation
  • No pulverization, long service life.
  • It is non-toxic and environmentally friendly, does not contain inhalable harmful fibers, smokeless and odorless when heated, and does not itch when touching the skin. It can be used for household appliances.
  • Woodworking tools can be used for cutting, drilling and other processing.
  • This product is a non combustible material, which can be used as a fire insulation layer.

Frequently Asked Questions about Custom-Shaped Nano Microporous Insulation

Quick answers to common technical and commercial questions engineers and procurement teams ask about our Custom-Shaped Nano Microporous Insulation. For specifications not covered here, please contact our technical team.

Our formed-shape nano microporous insulation service covers three geometries: flat cut-to-size boards, two-dimensional arc and segment shapes, and three-dimensional molded parts. Flat cut-to-size boards include mitred elbows, tapered transitions, valve covers, and equipment enclosures. Two-dimensional arc shapes cover pipe insulation from DN 50 to DN 1200. Three-dimensional molded parts cover complex geometries such as pump housings, turbine casings, exhaust manifolds, and tank heads with local reinforcements or penetrations. Each shape is produced from a customer drawing or sample. We support both small R and D quantities of one or two pieces, and production runs of hundreds or thousands of pieces per month. Our forming facility handles parts up to 1.2 by 1.0 meters in plan and 100 millimeters thick, with CNC machining available for tight tolerances.
The minimum order quantity for custom formed shapes depends on part complexity. For flat cut-to-size boards and simple mitred elbows, we accept single-piece orders because the cutting process uses standard CNC tools without dedicated tooling. For two-dimensional arcs that require dedicated forming dies, the minimum is 20 cubic meters to amortize tooling cost. For three-dimensional molded parts, the minimum is 10 pieces or 5 cubic meters, whichever is greater, due to mold setup time and cure cycles. Below these thresholds we recommend flat boards with on-site fabrication by the customer’s installation team, or our standard formed-shape range if the geometry is on our standard list. We are happy to review your drawing and recommend the most economical quantity split.
Custom dimensions and tolerances are confirmed in a four-step process. First, the customer submits a drawing or 3D model in STEP, IGES, DXF, or PDF format. Second, our engineering team produces a draft manufacturing drawing with proposed tolerances, generally plus or minus 1 millimeter for dimensions under 100 millimeters and plus or minus 2 millimeters for larger dimensions. Third, the customer reviews the drawing and either approves or requests revisions. Fourth, on approval we release the drawing to production and the customer receives a confirmation including lead time. For tight-tolerance applications (such as aerospace and semiconductor) we offer plus or minus 0.5 millimeter tolerances on critical dimensions at additional cost. We strongly recommend sample or first-article inspection for tight-tolerance projects before bulk production release.
We accept a wide range of 2D and 3D CAD file formats. For 3D models we prefer STEP AP203 or AP214, with IGES as a secondary option. For native CAD we accept SolidWorks, Siemens NX, CATIA, Inventor, Creo, and Fusion 360 files. For 2D drawings we accept AutoCAD DWG, DXF, and PDF. For laser-scan or point-cloud data of legacy equipment we accept STL, OBJ, and PTX files which we can convert to manufacturing geometry. All files should include tolerances and critical dimension callouts; if tolerances are not specified we will propose them based on standard manufacturing capability. We do not accept paper drawings by mail for new projects; please scan or photograph and email the drawing along with your inquiry.
Lead times for custom formed shapes depend on part complexity. Flat cut-to-size boards from existing tooling lead time is 5 to 10 working days from drawing approval. Two-dimensional arcs requiring new tooling lead time is 6 to 8 weeks for first delivery, including tooling manufacture and sample approval. Three-dimensional molded parts requiring new molds lead time is 8 to 12 weeks for first delivery. Repeat orders from existing tooling lead time is typically 3 to 4 weeks. For project-critical deadlines we offer expedited service at additional cost; please indicate the required delivery date when requesting quotation. Our quotation response is normally within 2 working days of receiving a complete inquiry with all required information.
Yes, formed shapes carry a price premium over flat boards of equivalent thermal performance, typically 20 to 40 percent depending on geometry complexity. The premium reflects additional forming tooling, longer cycle times, and additional quality control. For projects where the geometry is simple and the installation team can cut flat boards reliably, the formed-shape premium is unnecessary. For projects involving complex 3D geometries, repeated identical parts, or tight tolerances, the formed-shape premium is recovered through reduced installation labor, reduced scrap, and improved performance consistency. We are happy to provide a side-by-side quote for both options so the customer can make an informed cost-versus-quality decision for their specific project.

Why Engineers Choose Custom-Shaped Microporous Insulation

Custom-shaped nano microporous insulation is the 3D-formed variant of our microporous insulation panel range — parts produced from your drawing or sample with CNC precision to ±1 mm.

Every formed part is shaped from fumed silica microporous board stock, preserving the thermal conductivity of flat-stock microporous thermal insulation while fitting OEM enclosures that have no flat surface.

Pump housings, turbine casings, valve bonnets, and complex equipment enclosures that would otherwise require dozens of high temperature insulation panel pieces can be specified as a single formed part — easier to install, inspect, and replace.
