To minimise this risk, our standard inquiry form (available on request) asks for 18 specific data points; customers who submit the inquiry form receive a complete design proposal in the standard 10–15 working day timeline, while customers who submit a free-form inquiry typically take 3–5 additional working days as we exchange clarification emails. Customers who have an active installation with our product and want to upgrade or expand the insulation specification can request a "design refresh" where we re-issue the original design with current data; the refresh fee is 50% of the original design fee, or free if the original order was above 50 m³.

Design recommendations we issue are engineering opinions, not guarantees of field performance. The thermal-conductivity values used in our calculations are the lot-average values from our heat-flow-meter verification (200 / 400 / 600 / 800 °C); field performance depends on installation quality, operating conditions, and maintenance practice. If a customer implements our design recommendation and the field performance differs from the calculated prediction by more than 15%, we will investigate at no charge and either revise the design or explain the deviation — typically the deviation is from installation factors (gaps in board joints, compression of the board during installation, unexpected operating temperatures). We do not guarantee energy savings in absolute terms; we guarantee that the calculated heat flow is accurate to within the verification tolerance of our thermal-conductivity data. Past design engagements have ranged from 2-piece prototype reviews to 800 m³ petrochemical vessel insulation specifications; design files are archived and available for reference.

Three scopes of design service are offered. Scope A is thermal-backup design — we calculate the optimal insulation build-up (board grade, thickness, density, facing) for a given host equipment, given the operating temperature on the hot face, the desired cold-face temperature on the steel shell or outer casing, and the geometry constraints. Output is a written thermal calculation report with the build-up specification and the projected energy saving. Scope B is insulation-system design — we extend the calculation into a full installation specification including board layout, fastener pattern, joint treatment, edge termination, and interface with the working lining or the steel shell. Output is a written specification document plus installation drawings (DWG or PDF). Scope C is engineered-to-order design — we produce custom geometry (pre-formed arcs, formed 3D parts) matched to a customer-supplied 3D model, including drawing review, prototype pressing, and installation guidance. Output is the finished custom part with installation documentation.
For international projects the default drawing standard is ISO 128 (technical drawing general principles) and ISO 7200 (title blocks). For North American projects we follow ASME Y14.5 (dimensioning and tolerancing) on request; for European projects we follow EN ISO 128 and EN ISO 7200. For Chinese domestic projects we follow GB/T 17452 and GB/T 17453 (technical drawing standards) — but most export customers prefer ISO or ASME standards. Tolerances on installation drawings follow ISO 2768 (general tolerances) medium class for machined features and ISO 13920 (welding tolerances) for fabricated assemblies. All drawings are issued in PDF for review and in DWG / DXF for CAD integration. Drawing revision control follows ISO 19650 (BIM information management) for project-scale work; for one-off designs, revision control is by simple revision letter (A, B, C…) with revision history noted in the title block.
Yes — customer-supplied sample analysis is a standard service. Typical cases: a customer has a sample of a competitor’s product and wants independent thermal-conductivity testing against our product; a customer has a used sample from a field failure and wants help diagnosing what went wrong; a customer has a sample of an in-house insulation specification and wants verification that our product matches. We accept customer samples up to 300 × 300 mm; samples should be accompanied by the original product data sheet if available and a description of the customer’s question. Sample analysis typically includes thermal-conductivity measurement at 200 / 400 / 600 / 800 °C on our heat-flow meter, density measurement, dimensional measurement, and a written comparison report against our equivalent product. Sample analysis is free for active customer engagements; for one-off analysis without a commercial context, the fee is USD 300–500 per sample depending on the test scope, payable in advance.
Standard design review process is five steps. Step 1: customer submits the inquiry with host equipment data (type, size, operating temperature, duty cycle, current insulation specification, target outcome). Step 2: our application engineering team reviews the inquiry and confirms the scope (Scope A thermal-backup, Scope B insulation-system, or Scope C engineered-to-order). Step 3: the team prepares a written proposal including the recommended build-up, expected thermal performance, expected energy saving, and indicative price; this is typically issued within 5 working days of inquiry. Step 4: customer reviews the proposal and either accepts or requests changes; revisions are typically issued within 2 working days. Step 5: on acceptance we issue a formal quotation and, for Scope B and C, a counter-signed drawing approval. The end-to-end timeline from inquiry to formal quotation is typically 10–15 working days; we can expedite to 5–7 working days for an additional expedite fee on critical-path projects.
For Scope A (thermal-backup design) and Scope B (insulation-system design), the design service is included at no additional cost when the customer proceeds with a commercial order; if the customer does not proceed with an order within 90 days of the design delivery, we reserve the right to invoice the design time at a standard rate of USD 150/hour. For Scope C (engineered-to-order design with custom geometry), the design fee is typically USD 500–2,000 depending on the geometry complexity, payable in two instalments — 50% at drawing approval and 50% at prototype acceptance. For non-customer design work (e.g. industry research, white-paper preparation, conference presentations), there is no design fee. We do not charge for initial inquiry response, application-engineering consultation, or quotation preparation. The fees above apply only to detailed design work that requires significant engineering time beyond the standard quotation process.
All design engagements are governed by a non-disclosure agreement. Standard NDA terms are mutual (both parties keep the other’s confidential information confidential), indefinite in duration (or 5 years from project completion, whichever the customer prefers), and cover technical data, drawings, models, manufacturing know-how, pricing, and customer lists. For customers who require a customer-form NDA, we review and execute within 5 working days. Customer-supplied drawings and 3D models are stored on our secure file server with access limited to the named application engineer and the production planning team; files are not shared with third parties without written permission. On project completion, customer files are archived for the warranty period (5 years from last shipment) and then deleted from active storage; archived backup copies are retained for an additional 2 years for compliance purposes and then permanently deleted. We do not use customer drawings or designs for marketing, case studies, or reference lists without explicit written consent.
