Remote audit is the standard option: we conduct a video walkthrough of the host equipment with the customer’s operations or maintenance team (typically 1–2 hours per equipment), review existing insulation condition from photographs and infrared thermography if available, and produce a written assessment with recommendations. Remote audit fee is USD 500–1,000 per equipment depending on complexity; turnaround is 5–10 working days from the video walkthrough. On-site audit is offered for projects where the equipment complexity or the customer’s preference justifies travel: a senior application engineer visits the site (typically 2–3 days including travel), inspects the equipment in person, takes measurements and photographs, conducts interviews with the operations team, and produces a written assessment. The format we typically produce is a 1-page executive summary plus a 5-page calculation worksheet suitable for inclusion in a capex request. The executive summary covers: project description, recommended solution, expected energy saving (in physical and monetary terms), expected CO2 emission reduction, expected maintenance-cost saving, total project cost, simple payback period, and 5-year NPV at the customer’s discount rate. The calculation worksheet shows all inputs and assumptions so the capex committee can verify the numbers. We have supported capex requests at over 200 customer organisations since 2014; the format has been refined to match the typical expectations of industrial capex committees in steel, petrochemical, aluminium, and marine industries. For capex requests above USD 100,000 project value, we can attend the capex committee meeting (in person or by video) to present the analysis and answer technical questions from the committee — typically a 30-minute slot is sufficient.
Our core consulting competence is microporous insulation — the application, specification, installation, and performance of our own product family. Outside that core, we have working knowledge of complementary insulation technologies (ceramic-fibre blanket and modules, calcium-silicate board, aerogel blanket, perlite, foam-glass) and can provide second-opinion consulting on projects where the right answer may be a non-microporous solution. We do not provide consulting on unrelated topics (process engineering, mechanical design, structural engineering, electrical engineering) — for those we recommend the customer’s own specialists. We are happy to participate as the insulation subject-matter expert in a larger engineering project where the lead engineer is from another firm — typical cases are EPC contractors handling a multi-disciplinary design where insulation is one of many work packages. A typical lifecycle has four phases. Phase 1 — Initial consultation (1–2 weeks): the customer describes the project; we confirm scope, gather baseline data, and propose a consulting approach. There is no fee for Phase 1. Phase 2 — Analysis (2–4 weeks): we produce the analysis report (energy-saving, ROI, design recommendation, or technical opinion as agreed in Phase 1). The analysis fee (if any) is invoiced at delivery. Phase 3 — Review and refinement (1–3 weeks): the customer reviews the analysis, asks questions, and we refine the analysis or extend it. Refinement work beyond two rounds of revisions is invoiced at USD 150/hour. Phase 4 — Implementation support (variable duration): if the customer proceeds with the recommended solution, we support the procurement, installation, commissioning, and initial operation. Implementation support is included in the product supply scope at no additional consulting fee. The total engagement from first inquiry to first shipment is typically 2–6 months depending on project complexity; the analysis portion (Phases 1–3) is typically 1–2 months.
