We are often asked for a price list for microporous insulation board, and the honest answer is that a single list price would be misleading. Two boards with the same dimensions can differ substantially in cost depending on how they are specified. This article explains the factors that actually drive the price of a microporous insulation board, so that when you request a quotation you can specify what matters and compare offers on a like-for-like basis. It deliberately contains no prices — an accurate number requires your specification, and quoting without one is how buyers end up comparing products that are not equivalent.
Factor 1: Density and Temperature Grade
The microporous core is priced by what it is, not by how big it is. Higher-temperature grades use different formulations and tighter process control, and density affects both performance and material consumption. Our standard rigid board, for example, is a 220–280 kg/m³ panel rated to 1000 °C with a conductivity of 0.020 W/m·K at 25 °C; a lower-duty application does not need that grade, and a higher-duty one cannot accept less. Specifying the actual duty temperature is the first step to a fair price.
Factor 2: Facing and Finish
A bare board, a PE-faced board, an aluminum-foil-faced board, and a glass-cloth-faced board are four different products in cost terms. Facings add material and a lamination step, but they solve real problems: moisture protection, reflectivity, clean handling, or surface strength. Specify the facing your installation actually needs — and no more.
Factor 3: Shape, Machining, and Tolerances
Rectangular boards cut to size are the most economical form. Arc panels, rings, drilled and slotted boards, and machined shapes made to a drawing add machine time and yield loss, and tight dimensional tolerances add inspection cost. If your design can tolerate standard cutting tolerances, say so — it will show in the quote.
Factor 4: Volume, Packing, and Delivery Terms
Microporous board is light but bulky, so logistics matter: packing method, palletization, destination, and Incoterms all move the landed cost. Trial quantities carry setup overheads that disappear at production volumes, which is why we normally quote a trial order and a production price separately.
How to Get an Accurate Quote
Send us four things: the duty temperature and environment, the dimensions or a drawing, the facing if any, and the estimated quantity with destination. With that, we return a quotation for the matching grade — usually within one working day. Request your quote here, or review the product range on our products page first.
